I collaborated with an up-and-coming chef to design and launch BeGreedyEats, a no-code food blog website showcasing their unique recipes and culinary expertise. The goal was to create a visually appealing, user-friendly platform that reflected the chef’s personal brand while meeting their need to establish a professional online presence. Using the Double Diamond design process, I ensured the design was user-centered and adaptable to their growing career aspirations.

Discover
User Research and Insights

To understand the chef’s vision and target audience, I conducted an initial interview with the client and analyzed similar food blogs to identify industry trends. Key findings included:

  • Audience: Home cooks seeking approachable, flavorful recipes.

  • Client Goals: Build an online presence, attract brand collaborations, and showcase recipes with high-quality visuals.

  • Pain Points: Limited technical knowledge and time for website updates.

Define
Problem Statement

The chef needed a professional, easily manageable food blog that highlighted their culinary creativity and provided an engaging experience for users looking to explore recipes.

Develop
Ideation and Prototyping

I sketched wireframes and explored layouts emphasizing simplicity and functionality. To align with the chef’s brand, I prioritized:

  • Visual Design: Bold typography, rich food photography, and a warm color palette to evoke culinary indulgence.

  • Navigation: Intuitive menus with clear categories for recipes, blog posts, and contact information.

  • User Friendly layouts: Designing layouts that are easy for the chef to edit ensures they have autonomy over their website. Using a no-code tool (Squarespace), I created prototypes and gathered feedback from the client before refining the design.

Visual Design

Typography: Casual, friendly, and artisanal mood

Color: warm and enticing

Imagery: High-resolution, vibrant food photography, warm and indulgent

Overall feel:

  1. Warm and Inviting: Through the use of earthy tones.

  2. Professional and Clean: Achieved with a modern sans-serif font, clean layout, and organized navigation.

  3. Indulgent and Personal: High-quality photography paired with playful typography reflects both sophistication and approachability.

Deliver
Implementation

I launched the website with fully responsive designs, optimized images, and SEO-friendly structures to enhance discoverability. Features included:

  • Recipe cards with detailed steps and user-friendly layouts.

  • Integration of social media links to grow the chef’s audience.

  • A contact form for partnership opportunities.

Constraints

Budget: The project was limited to a no-code platform, which required creative solutions for customization within the tool’s constraints.

Impact on the Chef’s Career

  1. Increased Visibility: The website served as a professional hub, boosting the chef’s credibility and visibility within the culinary space.

  2. Audience Growth: Integration with social media drove engagement, increasing recipe views and attracting a loyal audience of food enthusiasts.

  3. Business Opportunities: The platform positioned the chef for partnerships, brand collaborations, and future monetization opportunities.
