Arts NC State

Although I was in school for a higher education administration masters program, I never strayed away from design while enrolled at NC State. While I was an intern for the ARTS NC State program, I worked with a team to gauge students’ interest in arts events. We gathered this information by building a survey and coding our responses. The information we obtained in the survey encouraged me to consider what an app might look like to address some of the issues acknowledged by students. This page also documents the marketing and presentation of student engagement in art-related activities on campus during the pandemic.

Marketing to Increase Student Engagement

The following are examples of instagram posts that I released on a weekly basis. The intent was to increase student interest in events and art resources available to them. After conducting a survey of students who expressed interest in the arts, I presented our findings to the Arts NC State Board of Directors.

Survey Results

We used Qualtrics to build the survey, then analyzed our results and coded the open-ended answers. I presented our findings to the ARTS NC State Board of Directors to help them make decisions about events for future semesters.

Social Equity Report

After coding the qualitative data from the survey, we found that a few students expressed the need for ARTS NC State to conduct more anti-racist and accessible practices. So I was asked to put together a report to highlight the progress ARTS NC State had made to be socially equitable and what steps needed to be taken to be considered anti-racist.

Case Study

Students need a way to search and save arts events on campus in order to remember to engage with the events they are interested in and make sure it fits within their schedule.

User Journey Map

Persona: Monica (Student who has previously expressed interest in arts events)

Goal: Search and add arts event to schedule/calendar

App Development

Through the survey, many student expressed their difficulty with keeping up with event dates and opportunities. I decided to use this information to create a user flow that would aid students in searching for events and adding them to their academic calendars.
